Guinness World Records, the authority on record breaking achievements, certified Flipkart for stacking up the tallest pile of mattresses on a Perfect Homes bed. Perfect Homes, Flipkart’s in-house label for furniture has more than 300 products and accounts for 15% of the total sales of the category. This accomplishment comes soon after Flipkart introduced ‘FurniSure’, first-of-its-kind durability certified furniture store that houses over 300+ products tested for durability. During the event, Flipkart successfully stacked the tallest pile of mattresses at a spectacular height of 6.9 metres and hefty weight of over 700 kilograms on a Flipkart Perfect Homes bed.
The record was achieved in less than an hour.
In a highly unorganized category like Furniture, Flipkart’s recent innovation, “FurniSure”, the first-of-its-kind Durability Certification, is a promise of quality and durability for furniture available on the website. The furniture category was relaunched by Flipkart last year with an introduction of its in-house label Perfect Homes. Flipkart re-launched furniture later in 2017, after meticulously solving for customer pain points through innovative solutions such as quick delivery and 72-hour installation through its group company Jeeves, easy returns, and warranty up to 5 years. Since the launch, the category has been able to grow by 200%.
Kartikeya Bhandari, Senior Director, at Flipkart said, “The proposition of FurniSure and Up to 10 years durability certified furniture looks to address an age-old consumer pain point in the furniture category; the lack of quality benchmarks. We decided to take it a step further by challenging ourselves with a Guinness World Record and achieving this feat only lends further credibility to our claim of being the destination for durability certified furniture”
The durability certification is offered after a rigorous test process conducted through NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) accredited testing laboratories including Intratek, MTS, BV and SGS. Each certified product has undergone tests that simulate 10 years of normal usage as per International standards.
An official Guinness World Record adjudicator was on hand to observe and certify the new record. The previous record stood at 18 mattresses tall stack measuring up to 5.2m(17ft), Flipkart smashed it by stacking 45 mattresses and achieving a height of 6.9m(22.9ft
