State of Siege: 26/11 is new ZEE5 show about 2008 terrorist attack on Mumbai

State of Siege: 26/11 is an interesting ZEE5 Original series centred around the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks which is starring Arjan Bajwa, Arjun Bijlani, Mukul Dev, Vivek Dahiya, and Tara Alisha Berry. When Mumbai was under siege in 2008, it was the NSG commandos that came as a saviour. And this crime thriller throws light on the lesser-known facts and the challenges faced by NSG commandos during this rescue operation.

This attack done by extremity of the Pakistani group Lashkar-e-Taiba. Over 170 citizenry died in the attacks, which lasted between November 26 and 29 and included a siege of the Taj Mahal Hotel. It is supported on the role of the National Security Guard commandos. This is an eight-episode show which has been adapted from journalist Sandeep Unnithan’s Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11. Produced by Abhimanyu Singh of Contiloe Pictures, the series has been co-created and directed by Matthew Leutwyler. Arjan Bajwa is plating the role of Col Shot, Zaki-Ur-Rehman Lakhvi played by Mukul Dev, Major Rohit Bagga played by Vivek Dahiya, Parvati played by Tara Alisha Berry and Major Manikrishnan played by Arjun Bijlani. It will be aired on ZEE5 from 20th March 2020.

Let’s have a look at some of the Facts about 26/11 : The 2008 Mumbai attacks is also known as 26/11, there were a series of terrorist attacks that took place in November 2008, where 10 members of Lashkar-e-Taiba which is a terrorist establishment based out of Pakistan, carried out 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks lasting four days across Mumbai.

Ten Pakistani men associated with the terror group Lashkar-e-Tayyiba stormed buildings in Mumbai, killing 164 people. Nine of the gunmen were killed during the attacks, one survived. Mohammed Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving gunman, was executed in November 2012. They travelled from Karachi, Pakistan, to Mumbai via boat. Along the way, they hijacked a fishing trawler and killed four crew members, throwing their bodies overboard. They also slit the captain’s throat.
The terrorists docked at the Mumbai waterfront near the Gateway of India monument. They hijacked cars, including a police van, and split into at least three groups to carry out the attacks, according to police. The attackers used automatic weapons and grenades.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station:
November 26, 2008 – Approximately 58 people are killed during a 90-minute attack.
As the gunmen leave the train station, they fire into a crowd gathered around a police barricade. Ten additional people are killed outside the station.


Cafe Leopold:
November 26, 2008 – Approximately 10 people are killed in an attack which lasts 10-15 minutes.

Cama and Albless Hospital:
November 26, 2008 – Outside the hospital, gunmen ambush a group of police officers and kill six of them.


Nariman House:
November 26-28, 2008 – Seven people are killed in a three-day siege at a Jewish community centre.


Oberoi-Trident Hotel:
November 26-28, 2008 – Approximately 30 people are killed in a three-day siege.


Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel:
November 26-29, 2008 – Approximately 31 people are killed in the four-day
siege.
Indias major video streaming platform, ZEE5, is all set to premiere one of the most anticipated shows, State of Siege: 26/11 on 20th March 2020. Adapted from Sandeep Unithan book, Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai: 26/11 and produced by Abhimanyu Singh of Contiloe Pictures, the interesting narrative of the eight-episode series provides a first-hand account of the tragedy that befell Mumbai, the city of dreams. The series focuses on the NSG commandos and their roles, it will throw light on unknown facts about the whole incident and share all the untold stories.
