Thomson launches high-capacity Gladiator, Air Commander, Chill Vault & SUV Series desert air coolers; introduces smart remote models with strong air throw

With heatwaves intensifying across India and demand for cost-effective cooling solutions on the rise, French consumer electronics brand Thomson has announced the launch of its new range of desert air coolers. Designed for Indian climatic conditions, the portfolio includes five models — Gladiator GD95 Smart, Air Commander AC85, Chill Vault CV130, SUV1700, and SUV1200 — catering to both residential and semi-commercial cooling requirements. Additionally, buyers can avail exciting discounts on the newly launched range during Flipkart’s Summer Cooling Days sale, live from 16th to 25th April.

The new range is built around three core consumer needs: high air delivery, larger water tank capacity, and energy-efficient performance, making it suitable for prolonged usage during peak summer months.

The newly launched range is available on Flipkart, with prices starting from ₹4,399, going up to ₹11,999 depending on model and capacity, offering consumers an opportunity to purchase the range with introductory deals and seasonal offers.

At the top of the line-up is the Gladiator GD95 Smart, a feature-led model equipped with remote control functionality, allowing users to operate the cooler conveniently. It comes with a 95-litre tank, delivers 5800 m³/hr air output, and offers an air throw of up to 60 feet, while maintaining efficient power consumption at 270W.

The Air Commander AC85 focuses on practicality and mobility, featuring an 85-litre tank and an integrated grab handle. With 7200 m³/hr air delivery, it is positioned as an ideal solution for mid-sized rooms and everyday home use.

The Chill Vault CV130 introduces a more premium design approach with its glass-top finish and enhanced cooling mechanism. Equipped with a 130-litre tank, it features gel pack-assisted cooling along with an ice chamber to improve cooling efficiency during extreme heat conditions, delivering up to 7200 m³/hr airflow reducing temperature up to 5 degrees instantly.

For consumers requiring higher cooling capacity for larger areas, Thomson has introduced the SUV Series. The SUV1700, with a 170-litre water tank, delivers up to 9300 m³/hr air output and a 75-foot air throw, making it suitable for large rooms, halls, and semi-commercial environments. The SUV1200, offering a 120-litre capacity and 8100 m³/hr airflow, is designed for larger residential spaces and saving up to 20% energy and water.

Across the portfolio, Thomson has integrated key features such as desert cooler architecture for improved air circulation, three-speed control, auto-swing louvers for uniform airflow, honeycomb cooling pads, water level and overflow indicators, Rust free fan blades, inverter compatibility, and castor wheels for easy movement.

India’s air cooler segment continues to witness strong growth, particularly in tier 2 and tier 3 markets, driven by rising temperatures, increasing electrification, and consumer preference for energy-efficient cooling alternatives over air conditioners. Large-capacity desert coolers, in particular, are seeing higher adoption for their ability to cool bigger spaces at relatively lower operating costs.
