Beyond Conventional Choices: WUD Invites Students from All Streams to Explore Design Careers

As board examination results approach and students across India begin evaluating their next steps, the World University of Design (WUD) invites young aspirants from all academic backgrounds Science, Commerce, and Arts to explore emerging career pathways in design, technology, and the creative economy.

In today’s rapidly evolving professional landscape, career success is no longer limited by one’s school stream. Design has emerged as a powerful, interdisciplinary domain that integrates creativity with technology, business, and human-centred innovation opening opportunities for students with diverse interests and abilities.

In line with this shift, WUD has opened admissions for its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the academic year 2026–27, offering a future-ready, interdisciplinary education aligned with industry needs.

The University offers a wide spectrum of programmes across Design, Business, Architecture, Fashion, Communication, and Visual & Performing Arts. Its curriculum has been comprehensively upgraded—especially across Master’s programmes—to reflect contemporary industry demands. Key features include integration of AI and emerging technologies, interdisciplinary learning, industry-led projects, and flexible academic pathways aligned with NEP 2020.

Admissions will be conducted through the WUD Aptitude Test (WUDAT) 2026, scheduled to be held online on 11th and 12th April 2026, followed by a campus interview for shortlisted candidates.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Vice-Chancellor, World University of Design, said: “Many students today find themselves at a crossroads after board results—especially those who may not wish to pursue conventional paths. At WUD, we encourage students to look beyond labels like Science, Commerce or Arts, and instead discover where their curiosity and strengths truly lie. Design education today is not about drawing alone it is about solving real-world problems, creating meaningful experiences, and shaping the future across industries.”

Among the key highlights this year is the introduction of the B.Tech in Computer Science & Design (CSD) programme, which bridges coding and computational skills with design thinking. The programme prepares students for emerging roles in digital product design, AI-enabled systems, user experience, and innovation-led industries making it particularly relevant for students from science as well as non-science backgrounds seeking to enter technology-driven creative fields.

WUD’s strong industry integration through live projects, internships, global collaborations, and mentorship ensures that students graduate with practical experience and career readiness. This is reflected in its placement outcomes, where a significant number of students secure pre-placement offers through their graduation projects.

Eligibility for undergraduate programmes requires a minimum of 50% in Class 12, followed by an aptitude test and interview. While scores from national-level entrance exams such as UCEED, NID, NIFT, and JEE (for select programmes) are accepted, WUD’s own admission process ensures that students from all streams have a fair opportunity to demonstrate their aptitude and potential.

Applicants are encouraged to present creative evidence such as portfolios, drawings, photographs, or any form of original work but prior formal training in design is not mandatory.

Located in Sonipat, Haryana, in the Delhi NCR region, the World University of Design is among India’s leading institutions dedicated to creative education, known for its interdisciplinary approach, industry engagement, and commitment to nurturing future-ready professionals.
