Talking about the looks of WD My Cloud Home, the upper half of device is white plastic while the lower half is metallic with texture. Also, there is a pattern of interlocking triangles. The look of device is pretty good.
There is a status indicator which is nicely designed into the seam between the two halves on the front. You will be able to find one Gigabit ethernet port on the rear and on the other side, there is a recessed reset button, a power inlet, and a USB 3.0 host port.
Using My Cloud Home
Getting WD My Cloud Home to work is really easy and convenient. As you open the box, you’ll find an instruction leaflet in the box to walk you through the set-up process.
After opening the box, you’ll find the WD My Cloud Home, a power cable and an ethernet cable. You need to plug the ethernet cable into your router and attach it to the WD My Cloud Home before you start. Once you have accomplished this simple set up, you will be required to use your computer to set up the device by going to mycloud.com/hello in your web browser.
Then from My cloud website you can set up your account, and it will look for your device. It is important for you to keep CODE which you found in Box handy as you need to enter this in order to set it up, and then you will get an option to download the desktop app, also you will be instructed on how to download the mobile app.
WD My Cloud Home can be accessed with the help of My Cloud app to access your files from smartphone. You can also use the mobile app to automatically back up your phone, which is a great way to ensure that your mobile phone photos are always kept safe. The desktop is very easy to use, and mainly offers an interface over which you can access your files in the same way as you access them via your computer.
Another interesting thing is that at the back side of the WD My Cloud Home there is a USB port, which you can plug in to whichever existing hard drives and USB sticks to backup. You can also do it using the mobile app. When you plug in an existing drive to the device, you’ll get a notification on the mobile app which will ask you if you want to back it up to the WD My Cloud.
