Aakash 2 is a 7 inch tablet has a capacitive touch display with 512MB RAM, 1GB internal storage and microSD card slot for external storage of songs, videos, applications and images. It has a front facing camera too for video calling with friends and family. The device has received 5.5 million pre-orders in the past few months, also the tablet is being supplied for free to many students in India. The Android 4.0 update of this tablet will be availed very soon in the market for Rs. 2000 in retail stores all over India.
Other than this Aakash 2 tablet, three other tablets have also been announced, all the three powered by 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor and the price range of the three tablets are priced from $55 or Rs. 2999 to $90 or Rs. 4999. All the four tablets have been designed particularly for educational purpose with the motive of reaching maximum students in Indian schools.
